The Bible apps directory

We tested every major Bible app on the way to building Warmpeach.

40 apps installed, used for weeks at a time, and scored against the same criteria. The reviews and the 26 guides below are honest about which apps already win for which readers — and what's missing from the category.

How we tested

Every app here was installed and used personally. We capture raw findings — typed notes, screenshots, screen recordings, voice memos — and the writing is AI-assisted from those raw notes. Scores, rankings, and "best for / skip if" calls reflect our actual experience with each app. Read the full methodology →

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Warmpeach?

Warmpeach is a Bible chat app that blends a pastor's care with a therapist's questions, grounding every reply in scripture. We're still building it; it's currently waitlist-only. Closest competitor we'd point you at today: Haven Bible Chat. The chat-app rundown explains the category honestly, including why we don't recommend the largest player (The Bible Chat) without caveats.

Why is there a Bible-apps directory on this site?

Building Warmpeach meant testing every Bible app already on the market — what works, what doesn't, where the category has gaps. The directory is the byproduct of that research, made public because we'd rather share what we learned than waste it. The reviews are honest about which apps to use today; Warmpeach is what we're trying to add to the category, not a pretense that no good options exist.

What is the best Bible app overall today?

For most readers, YouVersion is the best Bible app overall — over 2,000 translations, audio Bibles, and reading plans, all genuinely free. For deeper study, Logos and Olive Tree pull ahead. The right answer depends on your device and what you need the app to do; the directory below breaks it down by category.

Are these reviews written by AI?

The testing is hands-on; the writing is AI-assisted. We install and personally use each Bible app, capture raw findings (typed notes, screenshots, screen recordings, voice memos), and then run those raw findings through AI to organize them into a clean, structured review. Every score, ranking, and 'best for / skip if' call reflects our actual experience with the app — AI is a writing tool here, not the judge.

How do you decide which apps make the list?

Every app is installed and used for at least a week before it's reviewed. We score apps across content depth, user experience, free-tier value, and how aggressively the app pushes ads or paywalls. Being on this list cannot be purchased — there is no pay-to-play.

How often is the directory updated?

Each hub and review shows a 'Last reviewed' date. We re-check pricing, app updates, and new entries on a quarterly cadence. If something material changes, the ranking is updated.

I think you missed an app — how do I suggest one?

Email [email protected] with the app name and why you think it belongs. We read every suggestion and consider it against our methodology.
